Shogun Tools was founded in 2017 in Brisbane QLD by Maki with support by her husband Alex who has a background in horticulture / permaculture training and currently runs a gardening business. Maki’s family used to run a Japanese gardening company in Tokyo, and she grew up in a family environment filled with passion for plants and gardening.

We bring our range of skills and experience together to find, test, distribute and promote quality Japanese tools. Being a native Japanese speaker, Maki can research and communicate directly with Japanese manufacturers and business, as well as Japanese garden professionals. With Alex’s horticultural background he is able to identify and test new products that would be useful to Australia domestic and commercial gardeners.

Our aim is to be a bridge between Australia & Japan and offer high quality, sustainable garden tools. We also want to support Japanese manufacturers who are represented by a small (albeit ageing) number of master craftsmen so that their skills will be passed on to the next generation.

SA Spring Garden Festival is going to be our first market outside of QLD - hope we can see many SA garders!!
