SA Spring Garden Festival 2018
The very picturesque township of Mt Pleasant will be the backdrop to 2018 SA Spring Garden Festival which will take place on Saturday 22nd September.
The idea to hold the festival was floated by Mt Pleasant local and regular participant in the Clare Autumn Festival, that an affordable annual Spring Garden Show for exhibitors & customers be held at Mount Pleasant. The inaugural festival concept proved that there are too few garden related events in SA, especially country SA, as the festival well received by the numbers through the gate and this trend continued in its second year.
Mt Pleasant Farmers Market will partner with the festival, and run in conjunction with extended trading hours to align with those on the festival day.
The SA Spring Garden Festival will appeal to a dedicated cohort of SA home gardeners seeking a competitive authentic garden festival experience. The scope of the event fits the whole spectrum of gardening – quality plants, garden furniture, decor and garden care products, sustainable gardening, and guest speakers.
There will be a great line up of special guest speakers, including media presenter Sophie Thomson, South Australian presenter on ABC television’s Gardening Australia, a popular newspaper columnist, national public speaker, TEDx presenter, author, broadcaster and horticulturalist. As well as writing for the Gardening Australia magazine, Sophie writes the weekly gardening column for the Adelaide Sunday Mail and the Weekender Herald. Her enthusiasm for gardening will inspire people of all ages. Co-owners Paul & Nadia of Red Centre Enterprises will also speak about the re-emergence of Bush Tucker, and the growing demand in that field.
For the DIY gardeners, in partnership with the Mount Pleasant Men’s Shed, there will be demonstration in recycled raised garden wicking beds. For the children a special workshop, working with garden flowers with an experienced floral designer, where the children can use their creative flair to make their own floral masterpiece.
The festival is proudly supported by the community of Mt Pleasant and surrounding districts, Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Inc., Mount Pleasant Inc., The Nursery & Garden Industry of South Australia, The Barossa Council, and the Mount Pleasant Men’s Shed.
Admission is $5 per person, $3.00 for pensioners and children under 15 are free. Gates open at 8am and will close at 3pm.
