SA Spring Festival 2017

Despite the forecast for blustery conditions, sunshine greeted early shoppers to the second SA Spring Garden Festival held in Mt Pleasant last Saturday. The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market extended their regular trading hours in line with those of the Festival, and this collaboration worked well in both the Festival & Farmers Market, with all stallholders experiencing good sales on the day.

Project Officer Terese Stephens “With an exceptional variety of plant and garden wares, stallholders pleased the very eager crowd. Crowd numbers passed all organisers expectations, with numbers swelling to over 3500 patrons through the gate and these numbers have set the bar high for the 2018 festival planning.”

The quality guest speakers had large audiences interested, with Karen Montgomery talking all things wicking beds along with Faye McGoldrick talking about the fascinating insect hotels, and Botanist Beverley Lane speaking of growing herbs in the South Australian climate.

Terese said, “With the picturesque Mount Pleasant being a wonderful background drop to the festival and the support of the Nursery & Garden Industry of South Australia, The Barossa Council and Mt Pleasant Farmers Market, the festival had all the hallmarks of success.”

“And with such overwhelming community support for the event, all the hard work of organisers and volunteers has now come into fruition.”

The SA Spring Garden Festival will be held next year mid-September 2018; the Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8am – 12 noon at the Mount Pleasant Showgrounds. For enquiries for either event contact Terese Stephens, 0418 301 121 or email managermpfm@bigpond.com.
