SA Spring Garden Festival 2019
Mt Pleasant festival draws large crowds
Despite the unpredictable Spring weather, the fourth SA Spring Garden drew large crowds to the increasingly popular gardening festival. The Festival held in Mount Pleasant on 21 September, 2019 was run in conjunction with the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market at the township’s picturesque Talunga Park Showgrounds. The farmers market extended their trading hours to align with the festival times and the combination of events saw over 100 stallholders, and 1000s of visitors through the gates.
Project Officer Terese Stephens said, “The festival brought crowds from all over South Australia out in their droves, to experience the exceptionally varied range of plant and garden wares the festival had to offer, along with the special programmed events for the day.”
“It has grown an amazing reputation for diversity and quality of stall holders. This event in just four years has more than doubled the numbers of stall holders and patrons attending.” Terese said.
Crowd favourite & guest speaker Sophie Thomson did not disappoint her large audience, which overflowed the festival marquee, with Spring Festival goers jostling for the best positions to hear the inspirational gardener speak.
“Stall holders were extremely satisfied with the day with both the festival & farmers market stallholders recording well above average sales. Mount Pleasant came alive for the day with the Talunga Park caravan park bursting at the seams, and business owners within the township of Mt Pleasant also reporting a busy trading day.”
