Special VIP Guest Speaker: Hannah Moloney

Hannah Moloney is best known for her work in permaculture, and as a presenter on ABC’s Gardening Australia, quickly followed by her commitment to climate activism – oh, and her pink hair, which matches her hot pink house nestled amongst her urban farm in nipaluna/Hobart.

In 2013, after working on urban ag and small farms across Australia for a decade, Hannah settled in Tasmania and founded Good Life Permaculture, which offers workshops, landscape design and community projects, building good lives and landscapes for all.

She’s the co-founder of Source Community Wholefoods and Hobart City Farm, and she founded Home Harvest – the annual edible garden tour around nipaluna/Hobart. Hannah’s been extensively involved in working with local Councils, teaching home composting to residents to reduce organics heading to landfill. For a while there, she was simply known as the ‘compost queen’. She’s also an ambassador for Community Gardens Australia.

In 2015, Hannah was awarded the Tasmanian ‘Young Landcare Leader Award’ and in 2021, Permaculture Australia awarded her their ‘Community Service Award’.

Her first book ‘The Good Life: How To Grow A Better World’ (2021) explores ways to counter the climate emergency individually and collectively, and is so popular that it had to be reprinted three times in the first six months!

More recently Hannah released her second book ‘Good Life Growing’ providing readers with lots of tips and information on growing their own fruit and veg in the Australian Climate.

Hannah will be presenting two talks at this year’s festival and you will also be lucky enough to be find her two books available to purchase at our Farmers Market Admin Desk.

There will be time for signing books & photos after the second session. Books & Tea towels will be available to purchase from the Admin desk inside the market hall.
